Welcome to Tuff Mutter Rescue

WELCOME!

We are are new group of volunteers that have come together for one cause- to help abandoned and homeless animals.  We came up with the name Tuff Mutters from the popular event called Tough Mudder, a "hardcore 10-12 mile obstacle course which tests your all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie... It's more than event, it's a way of thinking."   The animals we rescue show forgiveness and unconditional love, regardless of the unpleasant past experiences they have had.  Most come from abused homes, born as a stray, have had little human interaction, have little if any medical care, or have been tossed aside after they served their purpose to their owner.  They are troopers, they are tough and they come out on top.

Our mission:
In the area of Hendry county, mainly the Clewiston/Montura area, there is little jurisdiction for animal control officers. The area is very rural, leaving few residents who view animals as pets and not property. Veterinary care is not nearby and volunteers are little to none. There are hundreds of stray dogs fighting for survival and we hope to reduce if not eliminate the number of neglected and homeless animals.

Our goal is to educate those of all ages from all cultures on how to be a responsible pet owner by teaching and promoting the humane treatment of animals as well as the importance of spay/neuter, proper medical care, and the importance of behavior training and modification. 

We work with numerous rescue organizations to rehabilitate and re-home abandoned and homeless animals.  We network far and wide and appreciate all the work volunteers perform in animal rescue.  We hope to one day have a humane shelter in this area, but that will come with time.  In the meantime, we work with what we have and are grateful for everyone who supports us and their local rescue organizations.
